March 2021
The community started the month of March by taking over the monthly tradition of attending the Cacabelos eco-market in El Bierzo, taking all their eco jams, teas, juices, plants and organic bread to be sold. This marked the beginning of the community’s independent running of the farm and the development of their own rhythm.
The school (a multifunctional space that serves as a yoga/boxing/capoeira studio as well as accommodation for volunteers) was host to workshops around self defence, femininity/the female body and meditation in honour of women’s day. A week later the community organized their monthly ecstatic dance in the school.
The good weather promoted a lot of preparations of beds, quick pruning of the fruit trees (before they got too green to prune) and the successful planting of many seedlings in the greenhouse. After the more demanding month of February there now was a lot of time to pay attention to the less functional but pretty things, such as the flowerbeds and the weaving of their borders.
Another important focus was the training of the baby donkey Chompsky, as well as the full on job of planting potatoes. This was an amazing group job, done with all hands on board and finished before lunch!
The easter holiday brought many air-bnb guests in the tower as well as some fun group activities for the community, such as a holotropic breathing workshop topped off with a gorgeous BBQ over the fire pit.
Looking ahead the community planned for the new members and volunteers that would join over the upcoming months. More time was dedicated to envisioning what this yearlong Tanquián-experiment could look like, what kind of activities and workshops they wanted to plan for and where they wanted to lay their focus.
