The month of May
May has been a full activity month from begging to end! With the spring rain disappearing and the sunny weather slowly arriving, we have had the chance to get our beds ready for all the veg and plants that were waiting, patiently, in the green house for the frost to finish. Now all our aubergines, zucchinis and peppers are happy getting tanned in the sun, giving free space in the green house for the tomatoes to grow tall! Our pumpkins and corn seeds are in the earth and the time has come to start picking wonderful red strawberries and raspberries, jumm!
Space wise Tanquián has had other changes, like a beautiful pond with its bench to sit on for a cool break in the shade when working in the garden. This magnificent spot has been created by two of our members Lou and Lily, giving effort and love to make it happen. What was before a chicken house has been turned into a chill out space with an Alice in Wonderland touch to it, together with our secret garden having a new addition to it… an outdoor hot fire bath! Where stress can be realised in hot water, with a glass of wine and under the starts! And last but not least, three of the crew have gone to live in the wild… well, into the garden, with their new amazing canvas campa bell tents.
We’ve had coming and goings this month too, with Emmely stopping by for a week and Manú and Becky leaving for ten days to the Basque Country and one of our main crew members, Jacky Janes, parting on her own adventure to France to keep creating her art! Lastly, the two people we were missing, Sara and Aham, arrived.
We’ve also had an interesting visit by Stephanie and Manuel who work for the Werde magazine. It has been fun to have them around, sharing our life and Tanquián with them and being photographed and interviewed. Article coming out soon, don’t miss it, we’ll let you know!
As said, it has been a month full of joy, with a beautiful music and dance gathering to celebrate Becky’s and May’s birthdays, followed by three amazing workshops: Jacky showed us her skills on the sewing machine. Nuri, who is currently a doctor, explained to us the ins and outs of the health system and Becky gave an introduction to Anthropology of the Body.
Finally, we said goodbye to the month by dancing to Lucia’s rock-heavy metal ecstatic dance.
