to our ecological farm on a historical property in the Ribeira Sacra of Galicia, Spain. First mentioned in ancient records in the year 964, with 5.5 hectares our farm is one of the largest preserved plots of land in the region and a sanctuary for wildlife. It retains the original stone home, magical oak forests, pastures, vineyards, stream, gardens, and orchards, all of which have been developed towards the aim of self-sufficiency, according to the principles of permaculture and ecological agriculture. We run a certified organic jam kitchen, producing scrumptious preserves of our own harvest. Our fresh fruits and vegetables can be found in restaurants, consumer co-ops, and eco fairs and markets around Galicia (see full list of buyers), as well as right here on the farm, where you are always welcome to come check-out our products in person. Our ecologically-restored Tower Apartment provides a relaxing and spiritual getaway for couples or small families. We also accept visitors interested in learning more about sustainable food production. Our experience living on this land since 1993 has given us a wealth of knowledge about self-sufficiency and living in harmony with nature that we are always excited to share. If you would like to come and work with us in exchange for food and board, you can do so through the WWOOF program.
Tanquián is a privileged place. Situated in the Ribeira Sacra de Panton, surrounded by forest, mere kilometres from the spectacular canons of the Sil, Miño, and Cabe rivers, it is right in the middle of an area of immense historical interest: monasteries, castles, palaces, churches, and manor houses. In the surroundings there are also many beautiful hiking trails. We know you’ll like it here as much as we do!
